Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps (LNSC) operatives have arrested a suspected drug trafficker, Onti Abiodun (25) while in transporting a bag of Indian hemp popularly known as “weed” to Idasho town from Ise in Ibeju Lekki Local Government area of the Lagos State.
Speaking on the arrest at the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Agency (LNSA) Headquarters, Safety Arena, Bolade, Oshodi, the Chairman (LNSA), DIG Israel Ajao (rtd) disclosed that apprehended LNSC operatives on her way to Idasho to distribute the drug to criminals.
In his words “The most important aspect of our Agency objective is to solicit information and process such information into reliable intelligence. Apprehending suspects like this is one of the things we do that people may not notice. Criminals rely on drugs like this to perpetrate crimes”.
The LNSA Chairman also seized the opportunity to assure Lagosians that the Agency will not rest on oars in ensuring that all the 20 Local Government and 37 Local Council Development Areas in the State are free of crime, urging Lagosians to support the fight on crime by coming forward with vital information that would be helpful to the Agency in carrying out its lawful activities.
He said “Lagosians should see the creation of LNSA as another bold step by the state government to ensure the State is free of crime. I enjoin Lagosians to volunteer information to us, it is not enough to criticize Security Agencies but to see something and say something”.
“Criminal minded individuals or groups in the State are warned to drop their nefarious activities as the multi-layer approach to security which is in operation in the State will make it difficult for anyone to perpetrate crimes”, The LNSA Boss stated.
Meanwhile, the suspect, who claimed to be a native of Ise in Ibeju-Lekki, has confessed to the crime and revealed that she bought the drug for a sum of #25,000. The Agency has also promised to hand her over to the State Police Command for prosecution.
